Hi and welcome back.

Today during my meetup workshop, a question about on camera flash came up.  Of course I obliged and showed everyone my system for on camera bounce flash that I learned from Neil Van Niekirk.

Here’s a shot of my assistant/intern Marisa with direct flash:

As you’ll notice the light is harsh and flat.  In the next shot, I put on my bounce card and bounced my flash to my left:

Look at the difference in the quality and of the light.  It almost looks like I have an off camera flash or softbox on my left.

Here’s my setup:

It’s simple: white foam paper with black gaffer tape backing.  I use an elastic band to secure it and away I go.

Check out Neil’s site.

That’s it for now.  Till next time, happy shooting.
