Yesterday I photographed a happy and playful six-month-old, Sophia.
These are fun shoots because I photographed her mom when she was pregnant, Sophia at 3 months, and now at 6 months.
It is difficult, though, to capture the speed at which these kids move. My suggestion is to boost your ISO to at least 800 and set the shutter speed to at least 1/250 in Shutter Priority. I used a 60 mm Micro Nikkor to get close and shot between f/2.8 and f/4. If necessary, use exposure compensation to raise or lower the exposure. Here, with white as the backdrop, I used a +2/3 exposure compensation to get the whites white.
Sophia was a wonderfully behaved subject, and took about 200 exposures to capture her essence.
Here are a few shots. Enjoy, and till next time, happy shooting.
